You should please not attend Mass and stay at home if you:

•             have a pre-existing condition or are immune compromised

•             are feeling ill

•             suspect you may be ill or have been exposed to Covid-19 or have a positive Covid 19 test

•             you have a sick person in your household

Each Mass will require a separate booking. The maximum number of seats per user booking is limited to 4, assuming a typical family household of four.  If there are larger households, please make an additional booking in a different name.

The maximum number of available seats which can be booked online has been set initially at a conservative percentage of the total safe capacity of the Church, so that we can still accommodate those who will inevitably arrive without a ticket. Of course, many of those arriving without a ticket are likely to be in the more elderly category and may not have the capacity or facilities to book online, hence not making booking a mandatory requirement.

Please bring a printed copy of your ticket or have it available on your phone to show the entry steward on arrival.

The booking system is easy to use, so please do use it. Advance bookings will mean that the Church will have a clear idea one hour before the start of each Mass, when the booking system will close, what numbers are looking like and also the number of families, couples and singles, etc, which will facilitate with the stewarding and getting parishioners safely seated at a social distance within the Church.

The other big advantage of the booking system is that it will enable the Church to maintain simple records of attendance, which may be needed in due course to help the NHS with the NHS Test and Trace system. Although not a mandatory requirement, places of worship have been recommended to maintain such records of attendance.  St Augustine’s Solihull is following such recommendation.

No one who turns up for Mass without a ticket will be turned away, unless the Church is at that point full and we cannot safely admit any more persons for that particular Mass. We will have to wait and see what happens at each Mass and then reflect on a week by week basis to see how attendance numbers are looking and how we proceed to introduce more Masses to accommodate the likely numbers each week.

Many thanks in advance for your help by making a booking.

Attendees must please

  • Wear a face covering over BOTH the mouth and the nose upon entering the Church and throughout the service
  • Sanitise hands carefully on entering and exiting the Church
  • Enter via Herbert Road and follow the ‘one way’ signs
  • Exit in accordance with the Stewards’ Instructions
  • Listen to the Stewards

Exceptions: Children 11 years and under do not need to wear a face covering.  Those with breathing difficulties also do not need to wear a face covering, but anyone with a breathing difficulty is advised not to attend Mass at this time.

  • All attendees must remain at least 1 metre+ away from the next household when seated and when moving down the aisles at entry, Holy Communion and exit remain at least 2 metres apart.
  • The Church is following the Archdiocese of Birmingham Guidance of 1 metre + i.e. one metre plus a face covering, but where the social distance can be 2 metres, please do keep to 2 metres.
  • For your information, the seating in the Church has been reconfigured to have a social distance of between 1 metre + and 2 metres, as a rough average, around 1.5 metres.
  • This attempts to strike a balance between increasing the capacity of the Church to accommodate all those wishing to come to Church, while still being in accordance with the recommended Diocesan recommended guidance.

By your completion of this event booking or, if you have not booked, by your arrival and entry into the Church for either Mass or Private Prayer, you agree that St Augustine's Catholic Church Solihull, through its employees or volunteer staff, can record and use your personal data for the purpose of booking attendance at Mass or Private Prayer, managing the event of Mass or Private Prayer and complying with all applicable Covid 19 regulations and related guidance on the reopening of places of worship for Catholic Mass or Private Prayer issued by the UK Government, the Archdiocese of Birmingham and any other applicable issuing body. One of the purposes of holding this data would be to assist the NHS Test and Trace service by keeping an accurate temporary record of visitors to the Church for at least 21 days and to assist NHS Test and Trace with requests for that data if needed for contact tracing and the investigation of local outbreaks, if any is required.

The following guidance notice has been added to this booking system on 24 July 2020 following recommended advice received from the Archdiocese of Birmingham:

For the safety of all who attend Mass or Private Prayer, the Government has advised that a contact phone number be kept for everyone who comes to Mass or Private Prayer, for a period of 21 days. That information will be destroyed after 21 days. It will be made available to NHS Test and Trace if they contact the Parish to request that information. It will only be made available to any third party if that is required by law.

If you come to Mass or Private Prayer in a group or as a family only one contact number will be needed.

The legal basis on which the Parish will hold this information is your consent. If you do not wish to provide your phone number for these purposes, you will still be able to attend Mass or Private Prayer.

The Parish is committed to ensuring that information we hold about you is properly and securely held in accordance with the law. You can find out more from our Privacy Notice, which is at This Parish is part of the Archdiocese of Birmingham, registered charity number 234216.
